Egg Kottu at Plaza Hotel – Rs. 150/-

Egg Kottu at Plaza Hotel

Egg Kottu brought right to the car.

Kottu is a truly Sri Lankan dish. It’s popularity has grown from being a unique blending of flavours to ensure filling and cheap meal to a fad amongst young folk who are often pulling up in their fancy cars to order one of these. Whilst Pilawoos and it’s many variants are famous for this dish, their standards in service have gone down.

Hence I stopped by Hotel De Plaza for an Egg Kottu. It’s mushy goodness, and does not taste dry. You can control the level of ‘spice’ by talking nice to generally polite waiters. It was served piping hot, and I had to allow a min or two for it to cool down as well as recover from a slightly burnt tongue.

Grilled Chicken Burger at DineMore – Rs. 300/-

Dinemore is will always be known for introducing Submarines to this country. The edible kind. Sadly none of these Subs now fall under my price cap. The cheapest sub being the Vegetable sub at Rs. 310/- The Grilled Chicken Burger, a relatively new addition to the menu did not score well in the looks department as well as the taste department. The burger it self had way too much of mayo / garlic sauce that made it very slimy. The chicken patty wasn’t as tasty and the lumps of mayo had ruined it for me. As for the fries, well the only complaint is that you could count how many I got in a single glance.
